Zalig Kerstfeest From Gert Kist -Part 2-

The week at FH began with Part 1 of Gert Kist's holiday themed shots. It is fitting to close the week with the remainder of the festive images. Gert, who is based in Amsterdam specializes in glamour and nude photography which he displays on his site Malemodel.nl. I first saw Gert's holiday themed shots last Christmas and wanted to share more on FH. Of course if you check out MaleModel.nl you will see more than just holiday shots, Gert has an extensive Glamour, art and erotic series as well.

Thanks again Gert for sharing your shots with FH!

Zalig Kerstfeest From Gert Kist

I love sand and beaches as much as the next person but...
When it comes to Christmas I like to be where there is snow. I have never understood those in North America who travel to Florida, A Cruise, Mexico or some other hot destination to celebrate the holidays. I am sure many of you (a couple in particular, you know who you are) who would like nothing better than to be in the hot sun on Christmas morning, but I will take my Christmas with skiing, snow boarding and sledding. I shall sweat the old fashion way!

If I were to travel over Christmas, Europe is where I would head to. A Charles Dickens London trip, maybe Germany, France or Switzerland. But...if I had my choice my number one Christmas destination might just be The Netherlands. Seems to me when I was a kid there were so many Christmas specials with Dutch toys and St. Nicolas and of course Sinterklaas. Sinterklaas is actually the origin of the mythical holiday figure of Santa Claus in the United States and the rest of the world. Sinterklaas is a traditional Winter holiday figure in the Netherlands and other countries that was actually celebrated last week with Saint Nicholas' eve on the 5th of December. The celebration includes a feast honoring Saint Nicholas, patron saint of children, sailors, and the city of Amsterdam.

It is through this lens photographer Gert Kist photographs his holiday themed shots.

Thanks Gert for sharing your shots with FH!

Just Because: Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Autumn has always been my favorite time of year. Autumn in New York is simply magic. I have spent a few cool October days in Central Park and it is my favorite time to visit the city.

Thanksgiving has always marked the beginning of the holiday season and since 1927 the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade has been the way to celebrate it. Although I have never been in NYC during the parade it is an iconic event event that thankfully has changed very little since I watched it on television as a kid. I always used to love to see what tv stars were hosting that year and which of my favorite cartoon characters were featured as balloons. In recent years the parade has also showcased the talented actors and shows from the great white way. Even if your not from the US tv shows like Friends and of course most notably the motion picture Miracle on 34th St. have made the parade known throughout the world.

Photographer Jon Whitney spent yesterday roaming Central Park and shooting at the parade. Although FH readers know Jon from his work with some of the industries hottest models, his passion for his craft is not restricted just to the human form. Jon loves shooting landscapes and architecture. Jon also loves to capture moments from his day through is lens. Thanks Jon for sharing the moments from your yesterday!

Favorite Pic of the Day for November 11th

Thought this beautiful shot of Matthew Parks by DV Photo fit was should be a day with a few moments of quietness and remembrance.

Happy Labor Day!

It may be difficult for some struggling to find work this year to celebrate Labour Day or Labor Day. The day, an annual holiday to celebrate the economic and social achievements of workers also represents the end of summer and beginning of Autumn. Given how hot and muggy July and August were I say bring it on!

If you do celebrate this holiday, enjoy your day!

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day to all the Canadian readers of FH and all the Canadians I have featured. If you search the blog there are so many actors, singers, photographers and models (including one of the most recently, favorite Kyle Pinsonneault) come from Canada.
Enjoy your Day!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter

I do go a little overboard with the holiday themes...oh well!

My parents are heading to Florida tomorrow so I headed home yesterday for our family Easter dinner. The downside of going out to dinner is no leftovers, the upside is....Chinese tonight!

Enjoy your day!

The 'Silence' Of Easter'

I feel so lucky to live in a town that shuts down on holidays. Today, Good Friday like Easter Sunday, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving and other holidays my town is quiet. Nothing is open but the drug store and maybe a gas station. Schools are closed, banks are closed and most importantly the stores are closed. Now it means that everything from malls to liquor stores were nuts yesterday (you would have thought they were closing for a month, not a day) but it was worth it.

The streets are quiet except for the odd person out for a walk. Seems to me we used to have a day like this once a week, Sundays. Now, many are lucky to get a day like this once a year. I still get half a dozen or so and enjoy each and every second of them.

I have Easter plans the next day or so and won't be posting tomorrow. Will be back posting Sunday. I wish you all some 'Silence' this weekend, the silence I am so enjoying today. Whether you celebrate the spiritual side of Easter (which I do) or the bunny and egg part of Easter (which I also do) or even if you don't celebrate at all Enjoy your weekend!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Enjoy your day!
