The Golden Globes

The Golden Globes is usually one of the most fun awards shows to watch. First off, no one (except the HFPA) seems to take it that seriously. Secondly, round tables and alcohol guarantee some memorable moments.

I have never really been a huge fan of Rickey Gervais, I simply don't usually find him that funny. That being said I thought he was brilliant last night. Now I know there is something sort of rotten about inviting guests to a party and then roasting them but Gervais really only said what most of us actually think.

Just a few observations:




Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans (above): Hottest (and most boring) presenting combo.

Jennifer Love Hewitt nominated in the same category as Judi Dench??? (I believe this was a sign in the book of Revelations).

I am glad he is healthy but am I alone in not really ever getting the appeal of Michael Douglass?

Any one else ever so briefly question their sexuality when Halle Berry walked on stage?

Angelina Joie has certainly perfected those dagger looks.

Kudos to Glee, I do love the show yet...when I see the cast at award shows for some reason they annoy me.

Sandra...bangs...FAIL!


I love being introduced to new projects and actors when watching award shows and last nights Golden Globes introduced me to Édgar Ramírez from Carlos.

Run Dr. Oz RUN!!!

Those who read FH on a regular basis no I have a love/hate thing going with Oprah. I can clearly see the good she has done and continues to do. I also feel there is an arrogance (far beyond confidence) that often comes through in not just her attitude but in the various projects she does.

What Oprah has not seemed to learn is over exposure is not her friend. I believe it is why some her acting projects (post Color Purple) failed. Oprah seemed to think her fans would follow her anywhere, even to the bad projects. Oprah may have helped Obama get in office but she cannot get a big audience to a John Travolta film, no matter how hard she pushes...

Most of the people Oprah has introduced the world to; Dr Oz, Nate Berkus, Dr Phil all began as likable and interesting personalities. But...like many things Oprah insists on pushing them down our throats and usually we end up turning on them. Dr. Phil was ok in small doses but as a daily fixture he has become no better than Jerry Springer. Suze Orman has taken 'loving oneself' to a nauseating and annoying level. Nate, once so sweet is beginning to show the tell tale signs of being....well 'Oprahdized'. Run Dr. Phil....and run fast. Don't let yourself, like Dr. Phil and Suze be OWNED.

It's all coming together for Jonathan D. Lovitz

I first discovered the work of actor, singer and model Jonathan D. Lovitz close to two years ago when I was researching the work of another actor. That research took me to a review of The American Stage production of Altar Boyz in Tampa. Jonathan stood out in the cast shots I saw and I went looking for more. Jonathan has an extensive stage resume and when I contacted him about a profile he could not have been nicer.

Jonathan is one of those actors who exudes positive energy that effects those around him. His smile, which I am sure will be mentioned whenever he is written about, is without a doubt contagious. A did a short post earlier this year of Jonathan's performance in The Lonely Goatherd for Broadway Bares Classics at Splash. (see that post HERE:)



I have followed Jonathan's career since and all of his hard work has led to some exciting projects. First off Jonathan just launched his official website which include tons of info and and extensive picture gallery. Some of my favorite shots of Jonathan, including all of those included in this post are by the brilliant Thomas Synnamon.

Favorite Scene of the Day: Desmond Harrington in Dexter

Dexter's Joey Quinn is a great character. Some week he is incredibly hot, and other weeks totally replusive. I guess that speaks to the talent of actor Desmond Harrington. Desmond, who has juggled roles on both Dexter and Gossip Girl the past few seasons is one of televisions most interesting and talented actors. Thanks to Braxnis for sending on the caps below!

Steve Howey in 'Shameless'

Although Reba was an average sit-com it did excel with it's casting. Steve Howey, besides being adorable, was always a stand out playing Van. Steve has been working steadily since Reba went off the air and is currently on screen as Kev in the new series from Showtime, 'Shameless'. I have yet to see an episode, but reviews and word of mouth have been great. Thanks to JAD poster Garth11 for the great caps!

Although I am not currently watching The Young And The Restless, I do love actor Luke Kleintank. Being fairly new to the cast, Luke, like most new actors on soaps had his introductory underwear scene earlier this week. Although not everyone's cup of tea, I love Luke's hair!

Last Nights GLEE

Last nights Duets episode of GLEE was the best episode in a long time. Although a couple of the cast was MIA (Puck & Sue) the rest of the cast all got a chance to shine. This is the GLEE most of us fell in love with. Great character development, great music (from Broadway to Motown to Pop) the entire cast was able to shine. My favorite duets were Santana and Mercedes and Tina and Mike. (Harry Shum Jr!!!).

Having Chord Overstreet shirtless was icing on the cake! Thanks to Superherofan for these great caps!

Thumbs Down to Fox TV

I must first admit I have not seen 1 episode of the Fox Drama Lone Star. I did however look forward to it's premier given the positive reviews I had read. Although TNT is looking to bring back the feel of the 80's super soap DALLAS (Below), Lone Star was Fox television's new drama set in the Oil industry in Texas.

I have the first two episodes of the show on my DVR and am not sure whether to watch. By all accounts the show was well done and the shows creators went all out this past week to save their show. I thumbs down Fox for not giving the show more of a chance. Some of television's biggest hits took awhile to find an audience, Cheers took several before it got it's footing. Even the mega hit DALLAS, a show which took CBS too new heights over 14 seasons had low ratings from 1978 through 1980 until the show took off with 'Who Shot J.R. Networks don't seem to have the patience they once had. Shows don't stand a chance. Lone Star was up against ratings Juggernaut Dancing With The Stars not to mention Monday Night Football and the CBS Comedy line up. Not sure what Fox could have put on that would have done better. Maybe Fox should have premiered the show in August and given it a month to build before Dancing came back on.

My dream job would be that of a network programmer and although I know money is the name of the game I also know that some shows need more support than others. Why would any of us invest in a show on Fox only to have it pulled after 2 weeks. Thumbs down Fox TV, Lone Star never stood a chance!

Boris Kodjoe in Soul Food

From 2000 to 20054, Boris Kodjoe played Damon Carter (recurring in Seasons 1 and 5; regular cast in Seasons 2-4) on Showtime's Soulfood. Based on the film, Soul Food followed the triumphs, struggles, and rivalries of the Josephs, a tight-knit African American family living in Chicago, Illinois. The tv series, which picked up after the events of the film, was the longest running drama with a predominantly Black cast in the history of North American prime-time television.
